Melanie and I, Robert Fetty, have been happily married for 17 years. However, the past two years have come with some extreme trials and tribulations of which God is helping us walk through. Personally it feels unbelievable given the turn of events. On May 18, 2015 my wife and I were in a rear end collision. A young person on their cell phone and getting something out of her glove box hit us at 45 miles an hour. The impact was so great it caused both of us to have a severe whiplash and concussion. Melanie also suffered a torn carotid artery - the main artery to the brain. Unfortunately the tear in the carotid artery over clotted and wasn’t discovered until 2 months after the accident. While experiencing the lack of blood flow to the left side of her brain, the right side of her brain had a TIA (mini stroke) and she ended up with several problems that will take lots of money to help her. And as if that wasn’t enough, one week after her mini stroke she fell in the kitchen since the TIA caused her to be unbalanced. She ended up falling and hitting her head on the edge of our table which caused another concussion and severe nerve pain to her cheek and it knocked out some teeth as well. Our lawyer does not know whether things will get covered or if we will be stuck with the bills. However, right now we must cover all copays for all medical services. Currently, Melanie has 7 doctors working on her case. She has damage to the right side of her brain which is causing issues with her hand, her balance and her vision. She is also having some serious short term memory loss which is hard because she cannot remember one day from the next. We leave lots of notes around the house as Melanie becomes disoriented often. I cannot afford to pay for all the help that Melanie needs. She currently is in physical therapy, hand/neck therapy and in January she will start cognitive therapy. I would be truly blessed for any help that someone could do for me. My bills are much higher than I have ever seen - $6,000 which is just the tip of the ice burg. And while I might get a small portion of this back in the distant future, I need help for my wife right now - not later or next year. If we wait too long to get help after the brain damage occurs, there will be no going back for her. Brain injuries have about an 18 month window for help. So please help me get caught up on bills and get my wife back. Melanie and I believe in our community of friends and the help they can give us. Our current needs are to pay the copay for a specialist, pay the electric bill, and pay the current doctor bills. I believe the Lord will provide and will touch many people to help. Colossians 3:17, “And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” Thank you in advance for your support. With Love, Robert and Melanie Fetty
