Shelby's Medical Fund
Organized by: Michael Piesman
My name is Michael , and my niece and god-daughter, Carol Ann (Spade) Sherwood, just received devastating news. Her three-year-old daughter, Shelby Sherwood, was diagnosed with leukemia yesterday. She was admitted to the Phoenix Children's Hospital ICU yesterday afternoon and has already undergone two blood transfusions. Shelby is still too weak to have the bone marrow biopsy to determine exactly what kind of leukemia she has; hopefully they will be able to pin that down soon. She will also have a spinal tap to determine how far the cancer has spread. We are raising funds to help with the monumental medical costs and lost time from work necessary to be by her side during the next months and years of treatment. It must be impossible to wrap your head around something like this happening to your child, and easing the financial burden will hopefully make the process a tiny bit less stressful. We are also asking for as many prayers and well wishes as you can send her way. Shelby is a beautiful, smart, amazing little girl, and she understands that the doctors are helping her and the medicine she is getting through her IVs is making her better. At this point she will be in the hospital for the next three weeks and then will begin the long road ahead with the treatment plan they set up for her. I will update this site with whatever news I can and try to keep everyone informed. Thank you so much in advance for your help, thoughts and prayers.
