Hi family and friends! I am SO excited to share that I have recently been chosen to go on a life changing experience this October where I will be attending the first ever fall SheLift retreat. For 3 nights and 4 days I will get the privilege to rappel canyons, hike arches and explore the desert sanctuary of Moab, Utah. On this retreat I will get the opportunity to confront challenges both physically and emotionally alongside five other amazing women who share similar physical differences.
SheLift is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded by Sarah Herron of ABC's The Bachelor, that empowers girls to improve self-acceptance and confidence through outdoor adventures and body-positive mentorship. SheLift provides the resources and experiences to help young women work towards living empowered, authentic lives. SheLift is a movement that brings girls of all ages and body types together to inspire and motivate one another to normalize differences and challenge personal abilities. Self-esteem and insecurities can be visible and invisible, but none are less important than the other. SheLift's mission is to empower women with physical disabilities through mentorship, friendship and pushing each other's boundaries using outdoor activities.
All proceeds raised from this fundraiser will go towards providing girls with life changing experiences. Because the applicants of the retreats express a universal theme of feeling "different," SheLift aims to provide a very exclusive, premier experience for our girls that makes them feel anything but different. The goal is to heighten their sense of self value and demonstrate to young women that they are worthy of having incredible life experiences. With that said, SheLift is looking to provide the best resources to their ability, which includes remote, sometimes hard to get to destinations and activities. Funds from this campaign will be used for flights, ground transportation, lodging, healthy meals and groceries, insurance AND most importantly, the equipment and expertise of adaptive specialists. Funds will also go towards documentation of the experiences and follow up testimonials from the girls about how the trip impacted our lives.
Any amount donated would mean the absolute world to me and this incredible organization that sheds light on accepting physical differences. Struggling with self-acceptance and confidence has been anything but easy over the years, but I am beyond thrilled to embark on this journey of personal growth and authentic living alongside SheLift.
I encourage you all to visit the SheLift website to learn more about the retreat, other ways to show support, and to read the inspiring testimonials from women all over the world who suffered from feeling different because of their physical differences.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU to those taking the time to read all of this. I can not wait to share my experience with you all!!!!
