BENEFITING: Backbone Campaign

Amy Morrison

THE STORY:

You probably saw the pictures of hundreds of tiny kayaks rafting up for a resounding no to climate disaster à la Shell Oil and its minion, the Polar Pioneer.

The organization that played a key role in galvanizing these kayactivists is the small and mighty Backbone Campaign.  I currently sit on the Board of the Backbone Campaign and I'm asking everyone I know to contribute to this effort with a tax deductible donation.

Large or small, it all makes a difference.

And my 50th birthday is in less than 2 weeks!  Chip in today and make this milestone even more lovely.I've set up this fundraising page so we can track how awesome our community is.

Can everyday people stop Shell Oil's Arctic drilling rig, the gargantuan Polar Pioneer?  We won't know until we try. Let's make a loud, noisy racket for climate solutions. And if you cannot be as present physically as you like, donate so that others can.  This activism takes money! And the karma rewards are worth it - by supporting this effort and protecting what you love, you may feel less overwhelm and cynicism when it comes to climate change.

Scientists tell us that what we do now is what will make a real difference - the future is not yet written.  Writers like Rebecca Solnit tell us not to give up on the politicians - they are simply a weather vane that blows accordingly -- and we need to create more noise and pressure than the oil companies are so good at.

Let's make noise and start turning the tide so amazing change will start happening.  Donate here -- right now ... and thanks for coming to my fundraising page!
