Shelly's Fight against Cancer
Organized by: Kelly Jauch
December 29, 2016
Shelly is a 53-year-old mother of three boys (Kelly 26, Kory 22, and Kasey 19) and the wife of Tim for 30 years. She is a Registered nurse specializing in pediatric care. She has lived in the Rolling Meadows area for almost 30 years and has devoted her life to helping others personally and professionally. She is a longtime volunteer for School District 15 and 214, Rolling Meadows Mustangs, Arlington Cowboys, and Arlington Cardinals. She is a neighbor and friend to many! Professionally, she has practiced pediatric care for over 25 years earning her degree from the esteemed Harper College- School of Nursing. She excels at connecting and comforting sick children and families treating them as if they were her own!
Shelly was sick over the holidays with what we thought was the stomach flu. On January 5th, she could no longer work due to the severe pain and sickness. On January 7th, the doctors discovered a large tumor on her kidney. On January 20th, they removed a softball-sized tumor along with her kidney, spleen and part of her pancreas. On January 27th she was informed that the tumor was a rare form of melanoma that practitioners would see once in a lifetime. On February 11th she was notified it had traveled throughout her body and spread to her brain. Our family is at a juncture that no one should deal with, but many do!
Shelly has been disabled since January 5th from her nursing position and does not qualify for short-term or long-term disability at this time. Additionally, and this is of great concern, her healthcare benefits are at stake due to her inability to return to work.
We are organizing a fundraiser on Shelly’s behalf to help her fight this disease, heal, cope, survive and return to work and some semblance of a normal life. She wants to get back to what she loves to do and is so gifted at doing. Her treatment starts this week after a month of doctor visits and tests, but there is promise in her beating this monster and returning to a normal, productive and happy life. We ask you from the bottom of our heart to help us during this time of dire need. Please consider a donation of any kind to this page…
Please keep Shelly in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you in advance! God Bless
The Jauchs (Shelly, Tim, Kelly, Kory, Kasey)
