The Newport Animal Shelter is in dire need of a roof replacement on one of their buildings. The Friends of the Newport Humane Society have obtained an estimate of $10,000 for the roof and are working diligently to raise public awareness and support for this cause. In 2015 the dog intake at the Newport Shelter was 1401 of which 1057 were saved via rescue or local adoption was 116. Even with the turn around through rescue for many of the dogs, the kennels continue to be full and overflowing. As the condition of the one building continues to deteriorate all the dogs suffer. In addition, the damage to the roof has created a mold problem that desperately needs addressing. Any monies you can donate will help... please give.
