Held in October, during Domestic Violence Awareness Month, The Allstate Foundation Purple Purse Challenge is a public awareness and fundraising campaign aimed at raising awareness of the prevalence of domestic violence and financial abuse and the need for resources to help survivors.
Nonprofit organizations serving domestic violence survivors around the U.S. compete to raise money to provide life-changing financial empowerment services to help domestic violence survivors build a safer life for themselves and their families. The top fundraisers have the opportunity to win grand cash donations totaling $350,000!
The Purple Purse Challenge runs from Monday, October 2 at 12:00 pm through Thursday, October 31 at 1:59:59 pm.
The team that raises the most online during the Challenge will win a $100,000 donation.
Additionally, there will be Weekly Bonus Challenges that offer extra opportunities for Shelter House to win another $115,000.
100% of all proceeds collected through our www.crowdrise.com/shelter-house-purplepurse2017 site will go directly to Shelter House and the clients we serve. We are competing with 220 nonprofit organizations nation-wide in this challenge, so help us be one of the top charities!
1-in-4 women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime. That is more women touched by violence than breast cancer, ovarian cancer and lung cancer combines. Most people think only of physical abuse when they consider domestic violence, yet financial abuse happens in 99% of all domestic violence cases and is one of the most powerful ways to control a victim.
The number one reason domestic violence survivors stay or return to an abuse relationship is that they do not have the financial resources to break free.
Physical abuse leaves bruises and scars. Financial abuse is an invisible weapon that traps victims in abusive relationships.
Domestic violence can be devastating to families, but the effects on entire communities runs even deeper.
