NEARING THE END OF THE CHALLENGE...............
August 04, 2016
Shelter Transport Animal Rescue Team (START) 501C3 non-profit group, rescues animals from overcrowded high-kill Southern and Central California shelters. We are a small grass roots group that transports an average of 125 animals every month, via our customized vehicle, to fully vetted organizations in Oregon & Washington where they are readily adopted into good homes. Since our founding in 2011, we have saved nearly 7,500 dogs and 500 cats! We have spayed/neutered more than 3,000 furkids. Our goal is to save as many homeless animals as possible, with particular focus on Pitbull type dogs and Chihuahuas. In addition to our lifesaving transports our other programs include:
Spay/Neuter and veterinary assistance to underserved communities in Riverside, L.A., San Bernardino, Antelope Valley and other areas in need.
"Beyond Borders". This program rescues dogs out of Mexico and Dog Meat Farms in South Korea and brings awareness to the plight of dogs and cats in the meat trades of Asia.
“Grassroots”. This program assists small rescues with seed money to rescue medically needy and injured animals from high kill shelters.
People are always amazed at how much we accomplish as a small group! We operate solely on donations and finding enough funding is always an uphill battle. This Challenge is a wonderful opportunity to pool small donations together to do mighty things for animals. We are about to embark on a Pet Retention program to assist people with funding and supplies to keep their pets and not have them surrendered to shelters. Funds that are raised with this challenge would go to expanding all our programs, such as a second transport during the month, doubling our monthly passengers from 125 to 250, our spay and neuter program can go from 90 monthly to 180 monthly. Please help us live up to the Challenge and win a prize! Donate and share for the homeless furkids.
