BENEFITING: Shelter Transport Animal Rescue Team
START Rescue has launched “The Beast” a state of the art Animal Transport Vehicle that can comfortably transport more than 125 high-risk shelter animals on each transport.
Shelter Transport Animal Rescue Team (START) a 501C3 non-profit group, rescues homeless animals from overcrowded high-kill Southern and Central California shelters and transports/relocates them monthly via our customized life saving vehicle known as “The Beast" to fully vetted organizations in Oregon & Washington, where they are readily adopted into good homes.
Since our founding in 2011, START has saved over 8,000 dogs and nearly 575 cats! That's 1,429 shelter animals per year!
We also provide 100+ spay/neuter procedures monthly and medical help to the underserved communities in Riverside, Colton, Palmdale, Lancaster and other areas in need.
In March 2017, START launched “The Beast", a 38 foot motorhome that was retrofitted into a state of the art Animal Transport Vehicle for our Transport/Relocation Program. This was done to increase our transport population while also providing comfortable and sanitary conditions. This project took over nine months of careful research and construction by an animal transport specialist. We transport large numbers of diverse breeds of dogs and cats—including mothers and their puppies/kittens, orphaned puppies/kittens, seniors, special needs animals, and “bully” breeds such as pit bulls (as mandated in our mission statement).
Additionally, START has a "Grassroots Program" to assist small rescues and help with vet bills.
START’s "Beyond Borders Program" assists dogs from Tijuana & Tecate Mexico. The program also helps rescue dogs from the meat markets of South Korea with the courageous assistance of rescuers there. They are brought to the US to act as ambassadors to bring more attention to help end dog meat consumption.
We are “The Little Engine That Could”. Our group of six does amazing things and gets amazing results.
Wouldn’t you like to be part of our groundbreaking campaign to save a minimum of 875 precious lives this year?
Stay tuned for updates and special thank you's.
XOXO THE START TEAM
