ShelterBox arrives in Haiti today
October 07, 2016
October brings joy for many reasons: crisp fall air, changing leaves, pumpkin everything, and Halloween. Yesterday my husband asked how I wanted to celebrate my upcoming birthday, and I read this quote about the impending landfall of Hurricane Matthew in Haiti: “Some of us will die but I pray it won’t be a lot.”
I have been encouraging the near-downtown Denver Rotary Clubs (mine included!) to pool funds toward a ShelterBox. Yesterday, when I read that quote and knew that teams would be gearing up for deployment to Haiti, I decided to get the ball rolling. I am encouraging family, friends, Rotarians, and our community to donate so that we can purchase one ShelterBox (or more!) and then track where the box is deployed. Each box is assigned a unique number so donors can see the disaster and country to which it was delivered. See what's included in a box here.
Let's bring a little more joy and compassion to October together!
