EVENT DATE: Jun 01, 2018
When disaster strikes, help can’t wait. People need shelter, food, water, first aid and emotional support. They count on the American Red Cross to be there. Join us in providing a Shelter of Hope!
Shelter of Hope was developed as a way to help draw attention to the Red Cross and showcase just how crucial donations are to support the Red Cross mission of preventing and alleviating human suffering in the face of emergencies. Local Red Cross CEO Sean Mahoney will remain in the stimulated shelter until the $500,000 fundraising goal is reached.
Follow along with the Shelter of Hope campaign as we travel throughout San Diego County living in a mock disaster shelter, raising awareness and funds for the services provided by the Red Cross:
June 1: American Red Cross HQ | Kearny Mesa (3950 Calle Fortunada, 92123)
Kick-off the Shelter of Hope by learning about all of the Red Cross lines of service, play games, win prizes, listen to live music and participate in lunchtime food trucks.
June 2: Del Mar Fairgrounds | Del Mar (2260 Jimmy Durante Blvd, Del Mar, 92014)
Find a shelter from the sun and catch a space to relax, learn family disaster preparedness skills and spend some time with our energetic youth volunteers.
June 3: Liberty Station | Point Loma (2820 Historic Decatur Rd, San Diego, 92106)
Join us for preparedness activities in the morning near the Rock Church followed by activities in Liberty Station.
June 4: Petco Park | Downtown San Diego (100 Park Blvd, San Diego, CA 92101)
Spend a day at the park with us, enjoy games, music and activities with a highlight on youth and pet preparedness information. We will end our day with our annual Volunteer Appreciation Awards at the Padres game.
June 5: Old Town Market | Old Town, San Diego (4010 Twiggs Street, San Diego, 92110)
