BENEFITING: Imerman Angels
On October 8th, I will be participating in 26.2 miles of fun around the city of Chicago as I complete my 8th marathon! I know, I know - the last one was supposed to be the last time (or so I said), but as I move back to the city after 3.5 years, I couldn't think of a better "re-initiation" to the community and one of my passions.
Once again this year, I am honored to run my race in support of Imerman Angels. As many of you know, prior to moving to Japan, I was actively volunteering with IA for over 5 years in a variety of capacities, and I am truly excited to re-engage with this incredible organization through the marathon. I have seen IA grow from a grassroots organization based in Chicago into the largest global non-profit that provides free one-on-one cancer support, helping thousands of cancer fighters, survivors, and caregivers each year. Its simple yet profound mission of ensuring no one faces cancer alone continues to hold a special place in my heart, and for so many that it serves each day.
As I run with Team Imerman Angels this year, I have set it as my personal goal to fund 8 one-on-one matches (in honor of my 8th marathon) by raising $2800 for the organization (each match costs IA $350, but the service remains FREE to those being connected, which is why fundraising is so important.) I would greatly appreciate any contribution you are able to make in order to help me achieve that goal.
Thank you all so much in advance for your support! If there is anyone in your life that has been touched by cancer that you would like me to run in honor or memory of, please let me know by leaving a message here – I will wear their names on race day and carry them with me all 26.2 miles. And, as always, if you know anyone who could benefit from one-on-one cancer support, please send them to www.imermanangels.org to get connected.
With love and gratitude,
Imerman Angels is a one-on-one, cancer support non-profit organization that carefully matches a person touched by cancer with someone who has fought and survived the same type of cancer (a Mentor Angel). Additionally, personalized matches are provided for cancer caregivers (family and friends of fighters) to benefit from other experienced caregivers. These relationships provide hope and comfort from someone who is uniquely familiar with the experience. This personalized matching service is absolutely free and is available to anyone touched by any type of cancer, at any cancer stage level, at any age, living anywhere in the world.
