Shine Africa Foundation - SAF-Teso
Organized by: MICHAEL ANGURIA
SAF-Teso (Shine Africa Foundation –Teso) is a faith based, non-profit, Non-Governmental Organization (NGO). We have been legally registered with the NGO Board, Ministry of Internal Affairs (REG NO. 10050) and was originally established in 2006. This was done by a group of indigenous community members who felt compelled to respond to the needs of vulnerable and marginalized people within the local communities. With particular attention paid to those whom have been affected by civil war, poor economic conditions, HIV/AIDS, Malaria, Disabilities and Poverty. SAF-Teso’ main focus is to empower the local people and to create sustainable change through increasing access to life skills, education, income, a large co-operative network willing to help and of course basic health care services. We are a professional, dedicated and determined staff here at SAF. We receive no pay and we do it because we genuinely care and love all the people we have the ability to reach. One belief we have here at Shine Africa Foundation is this…”If you give a man a fish, he shall eat for a day. HOWEVER if you teach a man to fish, he shall eat for a lifetime.” – This is significant for us. We want to ensure that we provide them what is necessary to feed their families and take care of them not just today and tomorrow, but for the rest of their lives.
Programs we have running along with our pipeline projects (which will start when we have funding) are as follows:
1.) Shine Africa Foundation has initiated and partnered with global enterprises such as the global hearing aids donor Starkey Hearing Foundation USA. We have helped 856 person(s) with improving on their hearing impairment(s) along with providing the ability to hear for those whom were completely deaf.
2.) SAF has recently and successfully partnered with Vitamin Angels USA in order to distribute and monitor micro-nutrient supplements and de-worming tablets to 38,876 children under 5 years old in Uganda.
3.) SAF-Teso has successfully implemented a Savings and Loan Program into the indigenous villages to ensure sustainability and growth for their operations as well as their community skills and knowledge.
4.) We have helped orphans and other disenfranchised children (450+ Children) in assisting them with transportation and opportunities in order to allow them to live the same quality of life as other children, at home and in school.
5.) We are working with children/orphans in different groups to help pay their schools fee’s (if they don’t pay they cannot attend) along with boarding costs including purchasing uniforms, shoes, mattresses and food. Along with helping the school to build, stock and raise a sustainable Chicken Coup to provide food and access to funds from the sale of eggs and meat.
6.) We are initiating, over-watching and sponsoring the program for “Adopting A Child in Uganda” which we will run from SAF-Teso. This program allows people in the U.S and U.K along with the rest of the world to help provide an education for a child and sponsor them for a term, two terms or a year if they choose. These include their school fee’s, uniforms, equipment, etc. This is life-changing and helps give our children a future.
Please email us for further details about programs and different ways to help. I understand times are hard, but for these people their situations are unimaginable to the 1st world. We worry about rent at times while they worry about medications and food. We would love a new bed but here they would appreciate even a used bed to sleep on. We take for granted our education system while they pray God provides for them so they may have an education. The smallest of donations have the biggest impact here. I pray God opens your heart to these people and your help us to help them.
100% of donations go straight into our programs as our staff makes not a dollar and receive no paychecks. Thank you for you’re time. God bless you.
