BENEFITING: SHINING HOPE FOR COMMUNITIES
I have been given the exciting opportunity to volunteer this summer with a wonderful non-profit organization in Kenya called Shining Hope for Communities (SHOFCO). SHOFCO has developed an innovative, community-driven model to combat inter-generational cycles of poverty and gender inequality in Nairobi’s Kibera slum, the largest slum in Africa. I will be spending a month working at httpThe Kiberia School for Girls, the first tuition-free school for girls in Kiberia. By providing a superior education, daily nourishment, uniforms, and schools supplies all free of charge, SHOFCO is able to give the brightest and most at-risk girls the power of hope and education.
I have a personal goal of raising at least $1,000 directly for Shining Hope’s projects before I get there this summer. I need your help! Please consider helping me towards my personal goal* – every dollar goes incredibly far in Kibera.
All donations are 100% tax deductible. You can donate directly to Shining Hope through their website (http://www.hopetoshine.org/support/donate/) or by mailing a check made payable to “Shining Hope for Communities” to me or directly to the organization at the following address:
