BENEFITING: SAFE HOUSE OF HOPE INC
Safe House of Hope needs your help to keep our Baltimore City Drop-in Center & Emergency Housing Facility open! We are asking for $25,000 to cover rent and utilities at this much needed facility for the upcoming year. We are the only organization in Baltimore City conducting direct outreach and our services are not duplicated elsewhere; our closing would be highly detrimental to the well-being of our current and future clients, who have few options for escaping the snare of human trafficking.
Safe House of Hope (www.safehouseofhope.org) is a 100% volunteer-run nonprofit in Baltimore City that works on the front lines to reach victims of human trafficking and empower them to reclaim their lives. We first make contact with those that are enslaved in the commercial sex industry by conducting street outreach and online outreach; we tell those we meet about the services we offer and then encourage them to call our 24/7 talk-line number and visit our drop-in center.
In Baltimore City, Safe House of Hope rents a building that is utilized for both emergency housing and for a daily drop-in center. The emergency housing provides a safe place for women to stay while a more permanent housing solution is obtained. During that time, we work with our clients to obtain ID (which is often stolen) so that they can gain access to government programs, healthcare, apply for jobs, find alternative housing, etc.
The drop-in center that operates out of the same building is open 5 days a week from 10am to 4pm and provides a place for women to simply drop-in without an appointment. We offer food, clothing, hygiene products, a shower, and laundry facilities. We also provide life skills classes, book groups, GED tutoring, and work with each client to set and meet her own specific goals. We desire to build an authentic relationships with each client and help them realize that they are valuable and capable of achieving their dreams.
If you are unable to give financially at this time, please consider volunteering your time. We are 100% volunteer-based and rely on volunteers to provide all client services. We have monthly and quarterly trainings for volunteers, please check our website for more information www.safehouseofhope.org. Thank you, and God bless!
