We're getting married! And instead of overloading our registry with "nice, but don't need it" items, we kept it simple in hopes that you could take some of what you wanted to give to us, and give it to those in real need. Here are some great charities we would love for you to support as a wedding gift to us.
Living Waters works with local communities to develop sustainable clean water sources and education for those in need. The availability of clean water and basic hygiene skills dramatically cuts down on water-borne illness, the leading preventable cause of death in the world today. We both feel strongly about making clean water available "to all God's children," as the Living Waters motto goes.
YoungArts identifies and supports the next generation of artists, and contributes to the cultural vitality of the nation by investing in the artistic development of talented young artists in the literary, performing, visual and design arts. In other words, this national foundation helps aspiring artists grow and realize their gifts. We both love visual and performing arts (heck, it's how we met) and wanted to find a way to help promote arts education in a time when so many school and community programs are facing cuts.
The Humane Society of the United States protects animals of all kinds, both pets and wildlife. We are both animal lovers, with a particular soft spot for animals that have been abused or neglected by humans. The Humane Society works with local shelters and rescue organizations, provides training and advocacy programs, and runs direct rescue and care operations through five national centers and a network of mobile clinics.
We have set a goal of raising $3000, and all of you can help us get there. Anything you donate will be split equally between these three charities. Thank you for your support!
