About 13 months ago I pulled up to a small home in the Appalachia mountains of Tennessee with a group of youth from Grace UMC Merritt Island and we spent a week with a beautiful family making their home warmer safer and dryer as part of Appalachia Service Project (ASP). We left after a week accomplishing a lot more than physical repair, we left with family members forever part of our hearts. I talked with the family's father tonight and was compelled to see if I could help remove a burden from his life by helping him pay off his home so that is what this site is for.
Bill owes a bit more than $3000 and his sub 600 square foot home built on a hillside is his. This may be the only house any of us can ever say that we paid off so if you are inclined to donate, take heart in the fact that you were part of something great.
The reason this project is called Shy house is because that's the name of one of the four girls living in this home who holds a special place in my heart because she is the same age as my daughter.
Please give as much or as little as you desire and share this opportunity with friends and families that you think may be interested.
I have selected crowdrise as the crowd funding site because of an article I read in Forbes tonight. There are transaction costs with every site like this but these are reasonable and the site's security protocol is great. If you have any questions, please call or email me.
