History can tell us a lot about our past, present, and future. We study the history on every available subject to learn about them. However, with time, many of our valuable history is being threatened and damaged. Organizations with historical artifacts need help with preserving their cultural heritage. The Historical Preservation team wishes to support these organizations preserve their history for the current generation as well as the future generations to come.
We are the Historical Preservation team for the University of Michigan’s School of Information Alternative Spring Break (ASB) program. ASB program will be sending over 100 students to several organizations in multiple cities - New York City, Washington D.C., Chicago and Detroit. These students will be volunteering their time and skills to help organizations such as the Library of Congress, New York Public Library, Field Museum, and more.
Our Historical Preservation team members will help non-profit or government organizations with archives assessment, metadata process, surveys, management projects, and more. We will be working with different formats from books to web pages. With your help, we can preserve our history, which we are all a part of.
