Siblings Integrated Community School
Organized by: Joyce Isiaho
Terrorist and militia recruitment of children and youth in need of psychological support - food, shelter, education, health and clothing - due to poverty and help/hopelessness is on the increase in hotspots that double with drug and substance abuse. Donations will support these target groups and reduce radicalisation brought about by lack of sensitivity from the society - according to one youth Benson, in the school. Thank you for your generous donations.
JULIETTE NUSSLI FOUNDATION is Children’s Centre; a foundation that was initiated by Juliette Nussli, a Community Based Organization based in LIKONI CONSTITUENCY, MOMBASA COUNTY, KENYA, EAST AFRICA and involved in Community Programs in the Areas of Health, Education, OVC, Governance, Peace keeping and reconciliation, Environment and Evangelism. The Organization began its activities in 1995 under the Friends Local Church based in Likoni.
In the Children’s Programs, we feed, educate, clothe and shelter those in need. Among these children are HIV infected and affected. Also we have those with special needs. We have a volunteer workforce of youth, widows, single mothers and others totaling over 50 from both the Christian and Muslim gender.
Most of our input contributions come from members who are committed in assisting these children. Well-wishers, churches, other CBOs /NGOs and the Government are also major contributors especially with feeding, health/sanitary, education materials and clothing.
The children attend government schools and community schools nearest to their areas of residence or at our Siblings Community School. We use the local government health facilities and purchase drugs from the nearest chemists when necessary.
Our greatest achievements have been reaching and involving more community members in community programs through these children. These include breaking gender barriers, tribalism, religious stigma, and discrimination. Peace-building and reconciliation is automatically instilled in community members without advocating forums.
Working with children brings hope and a smile to many children. A sense of belonging and self-esteem is re-established as soon as they are comfortable and they quickly forget their previous life. This understanding will help children to become responsible adults who mind people passing through the same situations in which they are now passing through. Their hopes, dreams and visions are thereby encouraged while forming good foundations for responsibility and accountability.
