Sichuen Kangding Charity trip
Organized by: Canis Chow
I've always wanted to volunteer again since travelling to Qinghai, China in '07, '08 and '09 where we helped orphans and underprivileged children who didn't have access to a proper education. We also visited poor families in villages along the mountainside, servicing them with some basic necessities including but not limited to flu medicine, clothing, flour, and blankets. These trips really made me realize how lucky we are and to appreciated all the amazing opportunities and experience I have been given. They've also inspired me to continue to try and help as many people in need as I can. After 7 years I've decided to volunteer again. This year my good friend Doris, who has organised many of these trips is taking me to Sichuan Kangding in October to help 58 at-risk and underserved teenagers gain access to a high school education (schooling is free up until 9th grade in China). Our goal is to raise a full year of tuition for each of them and to distribute the donation to them directly during this Kangding trip. The annual tuition is RMB2700 (USD405) per student which is an astronomical amount for them and their families. Your generous support will significantly impact them and their families to have a better future. Any additional funds raised will go towards purchasing supplies and food for the rural villages throughout the mountain side and hopefully bring them a warmer winter. Thank you. We'll cover our own travel and accommodation.
