EVENT DATE: Sep 23, 2017
Jozie was born a typical 7 lbs 7 ozs and 20 1/2" long on 9/21/04, but there was nothing typical about her. She found her voice at a very early age and every coo she made ended with a squeak. Every squeak she made brought out a goofy smile that would light up the room. As her daycare teacher said, "she was like a shooting star, and before you knew it - she was gone."
Jozie died on 1/10/05. It was a typical Monday, she had her bottle before work and was dropped off at daycare. The call came at 1:57 that afternoon, the autoposy results came back 6 weeks later leaving the medical examiner to tell me - he had no idea why my daughter died.
SIDS/SUDI is a lack-of-diagnosis, it means that the doctors and medical examiners checked for everything they know of and do not know what happened.
Some friends and I are running a 5K on 9/21/13, Jozie would be turning 9 that day. My goal is to raise awareness and money for SIDS research so hopefully one day no other parent has to hear those heart-breaking words about their child.
