Ian Primrose wrote -Face-to-Face and our Cambodian partner SCC are building a community center in Siem Reap. Despite being home to one of the wonders of the world, the surrounding area is also home to some of the poorest and least educated people in Cambodia. The new center will fill an acute need offering education and skills that will improve lives. Programs include organic, sustainable vegetable farming, animal rearing and hydroponic fish farming, teaching valuable skills and providing produce for the center.
We have purchased the land, construction on buildings is about to start, and this project will fund farming programs which we hope to start in July. Our budget is $1,801 for vegetable farming, $2,310 for animal rearing, and $926 for fish farming. Every little helps - $5 is enough for a chicken, $20 will supply fish for a pond, $50 will buy a piglet, and $250 is enough for a well in the vegetable garden. Check back for picture of progress in a few months.
