What do you do when a 16 year old girl, baby in arms, shows up on your doorstep, unaware of her options? How about when over 30 refugee students rely on you to help them escape their current situations? At Siena's Writing Partnership, we foster personal relationships with Refugee children first, the tutor them in English and other subjects, instilling them with the knowledge they will need to advance in life, even beyond the classroom. The students attend Bishop Maginn High School, but rely on our organizations fundraising efforts to pay for their tuition, books, and uniforms. The Writing Partnership is student run, for we all realize the need for education and understand that not everyone has the same privileged that we do as fellows of a private institution. We are supplying these children with not only an opportunity to gain knowledge, but to strive for a future they did not know they had.
