Sierra Leone Library Project
Organized by: Wahila Wilkie
My name is Zoe Minshall and I am collecting 1000 books and $600 (for shipping) and sending them to a primary school in Sierra Leone that has no library.
Sierra Leone is a west African country where 70% of the population live in poverty. The country's government does not have the resources to provide basic schooling to all children and two thirds of the population are illiterate. Recently the Ebola outbreak has worsened living conditions by taking a tole on the country's population and economy. These books will help children learn and develop their reading abilities; a skill that could determine their entire life’s path.
Donations of any size would be extremely appreciated, and would definitely make a difference in these children’s lives (Not to mention, they’re tax-deductible as well!). We need to ship by Sept. 1st!
