Sigma Alpha Omega at Roanoke College
Organized by: Emma Graybill
College is a CRAZY time (but most of you already know that!). For young women of faith, it can also be a difficult time. Finding other girls with similar beliefs and values is so important to surviving those college years. While there are several Greek options for students of Roanoke College, there wasn't one geared towards fellowship among young Christian women on campus. Until now!
That's right, after a semester's worth of prayer, weekly candidate classes, service projects, and one giant sleepover, we are extremely excited to announce that Roanoke College was installed as the Beta Alpha Chapter of Sigma Alpha Omega, Inc. on April 30th, 2016.
Sigma Alpha Omega is a national Christian sorority with chapters across the country and we are so excited to bring this opportunity for fellowship and encouragement to our campus! Over the last several months, we've been laying the groundwork and inviting other girls to be a part of this journey... and we already have 14 members!! We are so looking forward to coming back to campus in the fall and getting the word out to the college women on campus.
That said, starting a new sorority chapter is pretty intense. There is so much to do and there are some costs involved. We're investing our own time and money, but that's a tall order for college students. To be honest, we could really use some help getting started, as we are pretty much starting from scratch.
Our hope is to raise enough money to cover some of the start-up costs.. Our goal is to raise $1000 to help get our program off the ground. After that, our dues should be sufficient to sustain the program. Please consider helping. Any amount (big or small) will be GREATLY appreciated!
