BENEFITING: Signature Theatre Company
Signature Theatre was founded in 1991 by James Houghton, head of Julliard’s School of Drama. Since its creation, Signature has devoted an entire season to produce a series of plays from the body of work of one writer. This one-of-a-kind program offers a writer unprecedented freedom and support and gives the audience the experience of an accomplished artist’s body of work. Some of the playwrights featured have been Edward Albee, Authur Miller, Tony Kushner, John Guare, Horton Foote, Athol Fugard to name a few.
2012 is going to be an extraordinary year for us. Located on West 42nd Street, Signature’s 70,000 square foot Frank Gehry-designed center has three theatres, a studio theatre, and rehearsal studio.
Signature believes that making the Pershing Square Signature Center accessible to all people, regardless of background or income, is as essential as creating the space itself. We began the ticket initiative in 2005 providing $15 tickets for every seat in the house. Now, for the next decade, we have committed to make every ticket to every show during the announced run only $25 per seat.
I encourage you to take a tour of the center by clicking on the video to your left and also hear my fellow board member and friend, Edward Norton, key playwrights and Frank Gehry talk about The Signature Center.
In order to continue our commitment to the ticket initiative, to keep producing exciting new plays for all to enjoy, plus our dedication to our single playwright for a season, I need your help. If everyone I write gives $10, $100, $500, or even $1,000, we can reinforce our mission.
I would be very grateful if you would make a contribution and help me raise $50,000.
