SINGLE MOM WITH BREAST CANCER
Organized by: Marie Shelton
MY NAME IS MARIE SHELTON I'm 33 years old AND MY DAUGHTER IS OLIVIA and she's 2 1/2 years old. WE have been through a LOT in the last 3 years, and it doesn't look to great in the near future. I have had 9 surgeries, a baby, and now I was diagnosed with my 2nd Cancer, Breast this time, all in the last 3 years. After my Bilateral Mastectomy I have had numerous complications resulting in more than 10 ER visits, with 1 admittance. Including Bilateral Pulmonary Embolisms, 4 Staph Infections, and a ridiculous amount of Side Effects from everything. I get no support from her father. I am a Veteran, and I go to the VA, but using them for serious issues like this has become so concerning, because even lawyers agree they're at fault for my Embolisms, that I had myself outsource to private care. I can't seem to get a constant line of information on the path of my care no matter which way I go, and it's frustrating. Ever since I went on Blood THINNERS for the Embolisms, I've had issues with my nose. I went to an ENT the other day and I apparently have a severe DEVIATED Septum, and I'm going to have to have another surgery, and it will keep me down for at least a week. I still haven't had my Breast replaced, and my hair is barely coming back. I'm still in treatment, and have gone through chemo, and I am only on Heseptin for the moment, but I have a long road to go. I make home tamales and sell them when I can, and I get a small compensation from the VA, but it's just not enough. Me and my daughter live in a 1 bedroom apartment, and I drive a modest vehicle. I don't have cable, or internet (other than my phone), and no Netflix. I cant afford to work a conventional job because child care is so expensive, plus I have so many Doc Appts., and I keep getting sick. I dont have any family here. I did small fundraisers in the beginning, and a couple car washed. I did a gofundme, but I think people don't trust it because of all the complications I had with the page, so I'm reaching out from here. I'm a hard worker, but I can't do as much as I could before. This has been so whirl wind for us. I found the lump in December, diagnosis January 25th, surgery February 9 th, on my 33rd birthday, plus power port implant in March. My head is spinning. I see a therapist every week to try to keep me straight, but it's hard. Every Time I fall ill, or have to have surgery, all I can do is think and worry about money, roof, food, car. I am such a strong person, but I'm falling weak from this All, and I'm asking for HELP, PLEASE.
