THE STORY:

My name is Kenneth B Singleton, MD, MPH. I am a practicing board-certified Internal Medicine physician specializing in diagnosis and treatment of tick-borne diseases. I, myself, am a Lyme survivor and have treated over 3,000 people with Lyme or other tick-borne diseases. I also authored the book, The Lyme Disease Solution. Lyme disease is the fastest growing vector-borne (infection passed on by bugs that bite) disease in the country. Despite the fact that only 10% of new cases are actually diagnosed (according to Centers for Disease Control) by doctors, very little money is going into improving those woeful statistics. Chances are great that you, or someone you know, has chronic untreated Lyme disease and is totally unaware that chronic Lyme is the cause of their problem. It can look like so many other inflammatory conditions and is very often misdiagnosed. We need a major fundraising campaign whose purpose is to increase Lyme (and other infections passed on by ticks) awareness - diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and research - among patients and doctors. Fortunately, there are a growing number of excellent programs in place to help remedy this problem, including Lyme research centers, such as the one that recently opened here in Baltimore where I practice. But all too often the limiting factor is funding. I know many of the programs and organizations which can benefit from increased funding to fight this public health scourge. And I want to help them get the money they need to put a halt to this disease. With your financial help, via this exciting new tool called "crowdfunding", I want to continue to sponsor and support projects which will lead to increased awareness of and new solutions to this difficult problem of tick-borne disease. Most importantly I want Lyme disease to be something that will not be a burden to the generations to come, namely our kids and grand kids. Will you be able to help us? No amount is too small. Our acronym is SLAP (Singleton Lyme Awareness Program). And our goal is raise enough money to give Lyme a major "SLAP" in the face. Your financial assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance and may God bless you.
