SISTAS RUN NEW YORK wrote -
For the past nine years the Gye Nyame Empowerment Project (GNEP), a Brooklyn-based nonprofit, has hosted an annual two-day empowerment summit for 1,000 Pan-African girls and women from the NYC area. Participants leave loving themselves, demanding the best, stepping into their power and embracing their full potential. This year's theme is "Own the Mic" and participants will delve deeper into understanding who they are - up against the conflicting images and narratives they come across in popular culture, their communities, and in their own homes. They will use their voices to amplify who they believe and know they are. We are excited and grateful that we will be celebrating our 10th Sista-2-Sista (S2S) Youth Summit on March 17-18! I know that YOU KNOW the power of connecting with young people, and we are clear that we cannot do this work without generous supporters like you. With that being said, we are inviting you to help us fundraise for the S2S Youth Summit by donating to Sistas Run New York--a 2 hour run/walk certain to challenge the mind, body, and spirit! This year, I am asking friends to help me fundraise for this amazing cause by participating in the run or by donating. The money raised will go directly to GNEP for the rental fees, insurance, merchandise and décor, lodging and transportation, materials and technology, and food for 500 young women. This is a labor of love, therefore the program and logistics are entirely volunteer-run. Please support us with making this event free for high school girls by donating $10 or more via our INDIEGOGO Campaign: http://tinyurl.com/Funds2s2017. Thank you in advance! Please note that the Sista-2-Sista Youth Summit is a program that is a part of a 501c3 non profit - Gye Nyame Empowerment Project, and donations to the run will qualify for federal or state charitable deductions for tax purposes.
