EVENT DATE: May 04, 2014
The Sisters of St. Francis of the Neumann Communities have a year-long young adult service program called Change A Heart.
Change A Heart invites recent college graduates to grow in their faith, develop and enhance professional skills, make choices based on needs not wants all so as to best serve those most in need in the Pittsburgh community and be faithful leaders in all their relationships, at home, in the church, workplace and the world. Change A Heart does this by providing tools, resources and support to recent college graduates as they intentionally live simply, in community with one another and serve with a vulnerable population for a one year commitment. Unique to Change A Heart, we match young adults with a ministry they are interested in serving with based on their education and the needs of the Pittsburgh area. Change A Heart is also the only Catholic young adult service program in southwestern Pennsylvania.
The current group of Change A Heart members made up of 11 young people (plus staff!) are participating in this year's Pittsburgh Marathon. Together, it is our hope to run this marathon for the purposes to fund:
1. An end of year service/immersion trip at the conclusion of our time together
2. Enhance outreach efforts in the local Pittsburgh area to make Change A Heart a more well-known organization (possibly funding the building of a Change A Heart playground?!)
3. Visits for future candidates to "come & see" what Change A Heart is all about so as to be invested in the mission and encouraged to apply.
We are excited for you to join us in our efforts as we sweat, train in the cold weather and push our bodies to its limits! Thank you for your support. We are grateful and encouraged by your generosity.
