BENEFITING: Pulmonary Hypertension Association Inc
EVENT: O2 breathe Walk of Boston
We're so excited to be participating in Boston's second annual O2 Breathe Walk and to support the Pulmonary Hypertension Association's work. Thanks so much for visitng our page and supporting our efforts!
As many of you know, our cherished matriarch, Linda, was diagnosed with Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH) in early 2015 and has been putting on a pretty brave face as she fights the good fight ever since. PAH is relatively rare, progressive, and currently without a cure. Treatment options vary (and include the sassy little 24/7 IV pump that Deena's been sporting these past few years), and the underlying causes run the gamut from plain old genetic bad luck to a host of concomitant diseases, like, in this instance, Scleroderma. Deenie von Deen Deen is one of the lucky ones in that she's proximal to the medical mecca that is Boston (shoutout to Drs. Farber and Simms, her rockstar pulmonologist and rheumatologist, and their incredible teams at BMC!), and that she's got a robust support network of friends & family around her (though sometimes she probably wishes that we were a little less... opinionated), but it's still pretty darn scary and not something that any of us would be in a hurry to wish on our worst enemies.
All of this is to say, the disease and its treatments still need a ton of research and advancement, and those who are dealing with the realities of PAH on a daily basis need a ton of support, advocacy, and overall good vibes. This, dear reader, is where you come in!
We need your help to knock this walk out of the park (get it? 'cause it's in North Point Park?) and advance the Pulmonary Hypertension Association's vision of a world free of PH, empowered by hope.
What can you do to help? We're so glad you asked!
1. Make a donation to our team. Every bit helps!
2. Join our team and walk with us on October 8th! We'll even buy you a coffee.
3. Visit PHA's website, phassociation.org, and take a moment to learn more about
their work - and how to help by becomming an advocate or volunteer.
We truly cannot thank you enough for your support of our participation in this event, and more importantly, for all of the love and support that you've given our family on this wild ride. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Love, Richard, Meredith, Emily (in spirit, from Spain), and Hamish xo
