Six Strays In One Day!
Organized by: Holly Berger
Please support me in providing care and veterinary treatment for six stray kittens (mom and 5 - three week old kittens) found living on the back porch of an abandoned house.
I didn't know what I was getting myself into when I started leaving food out for a very malnourished stray cat... She was so very small and thin that I assumed she was a 'kitten' herself. Needless to say, I was quite surprised when I discovered her litter of five babies several days later. In that moment, I felt panicked - like I was in way over my head, and didn't know how I was going to manage taking on this family of six - but I knew I needed to help them. As two of the kittens did not appear to be doing well, I called Stray Rescue of St. Louis for advise, and together we decided all six needed to visit the vet. It was there that I found out the kittens are roughly 3 weeks old, and will be nursing for another 4 - 6 more weeks. The appointment went well, but was only the first of many to come!
This family of six strays has quickly found it's way into my heart and home! And, in turn, I have quickly found my way into an unexpected timely and costly endeavor! Beyond the 'everyday care' of these cats and their regular veterinary check ups, I am committed to getting each kitten (including Momma Cat) fully vaccinated and spayed / neutered.
In order to do this, I am asking for your help in covering these unexpected costs. Please support me in providing the care and veterinary treatment needed for these adorable felines!
