BENEFITING: MISSISSIPPI HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES
EVENT DATE: Feb 26, 2016
Skeeter Banks was one of the baseball greats to play for Southaven High School. He went on to play at the collegiate level and then was drafted in 1992 by the Oakland A's organization where he played 4.5 seasons rising in their minor league system. Skeeter was a great athlete with many dreams that were unfulfilled since his life was cut short by ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. During the 4 years he started for the Southaven Chargers he gave a lot to the team and to the school, now we have the opportunity to honor him with a nice bronze baseball plaque acknowledging him, his abilities and contributions. We also have the opportunity for naming rights to some other area of the new baseball diamond that Skeeter is surely proud of. Most of all, Skeeter Banks was a friend to so man; I ask in the name of his only son Cooper Banks, his mom Billie Banks, his sisters Kim and Sissy and many other extended family members and loved ones, as well as myself to please donate as much or as little as you can so we can honor Skeeter and the game he loved so much. This will also help SHS Baseball team to raise much needed funds from the naming rights portion of the donation.
