Skylie's Graduation Fund
Organized by: Deedra Scherm
For those of you who don't know, Skylie is the birth sister to our adopted son Charlie who lives in Calfornia. She was with us at Charlie's birth. Although Charlie was able to go with us, the circumstance were such that she could not leave. She has endured abuse, abandonment, and getting passed from home to home, exposed to things no child should be...being removed after court judements. She has supported herself with no parents, doing independent study for High School while working several jobs to pay bills, buy food and clothes, etc. Her living situation became so toxic, she packed up when she turned 18 in January, and drove to the college town where we had helped her apply for school for the fall. (with just the clothes on her back and a small backback) After a bit of homelessness, we found a couple that would take her in, and a high school that would take her in the middle of independent study and allow her to graduate. And she just did that last week!!!!!!!! It is amazing that she has come through all of these trials to be the sweet, determined, positive, clean kid she is. Now she needs to get set up for college. She has spent years working to support herself, now we'd like to give her some support to start her new life in college! First you can pray for her!!! But if you would like to give a gift, even $5 is a blessing for her. And please send any greetings/advice/words of wisdom my way and I'll print them out...what an encouragment to her!!! Thank you!!!
