BENEFITING: NORTHWEST MICHIGAN COMMUNITY ACTION AGENCY INC
Join us on to help raise awareness & financially assist with home heating needs this winter!
As the nights grow longer and colder across Northern Michigan, it serves as a chilling reminder of the challenges many Michigan families will face to heat their homes this winter.
The fifth annual Sleep Out to raise awareness and monetary donations for home heating assistance needs in Northwest Michigan returns on November 4th on the lawn of the Grand Traverse County Civic Center along Grandview Parkway. It begins at 4:30 p.m. and continues through the night. The event is co-sponsored by the Traverse City Area Chamber of Commerce and the Northwest Michigan Community Action Agency (NMCAA).
“While Northern Michigan is a great place to live and raise a family, our cold winters can really stretch a household’s resources and create difficult and even dangerous living conditions,” Chamber Executive Director Laura Oblinger said. “The Sleep Out offers an opportunity to help local families and individuals keep their homes safe and livable over the winter.”
This year NMC students are joining the cause and working to raise sponsorship money for 10 camping spots to participate in the overnight sleep out! To sponsor one of their tents or another special guest contact Kevin Bavers at NMCAA (231) 947-3780. Participation opportunities include:
