BENEFITING: The S.L.E. Lupus Foundation
ORGANIZER: The S.L.E. Lupus Foundation
EVENT DATE: Mar 20, 2016
Last year I was fortunate to run the NYC Half on behalf of the S.L.E Lupus Foundation. It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life! My team and I raised nearly $20,000 for research! It is our way of helping research teams to find new medications as well as move closer to a cure.
There were thousands of people running for all different reasons; raising money for different charities and spreading hope for those who suffer, both patients and family members alike. The runners were all an inspiration to me. The enormous amount of positive energy that I felt running through Times Square is something I never experienced before, I can't quite put words to it, but it is something I will never forget!
I am excited to be running in the NYC Half this coming March. Mark your calender's and get your signs ready for Sunday March 20, 2016!! I look foward to seeing you all there cheering us all on as we use our legs, our gifts, and our love as a vessel for change. A vessel for hope. A vessel for a healthy future for those we love who are affected by Lupus.
My story for why I run is below. Please consider making a donation.
With Love and Gratitude,
A family memeber was diagnosed with Lupus last year. She has been sick for a while, battling an unknown disease until January 2014. She is smart, funny and beautiful. A mother. A wife. A daughter. A sister. A friend. She never stops moving, never stops pushing, and never lets Lupus get the best of her. There are days she can hardly get out of bed from the pain, and she gets up anyway. There are days when her hands are so cold and full of sores, and she gets out of bed as though nothing's wrong. There are days when her hives flare up, or she has swelling and joint pain and she goes to work, takes care of her family and never once complains. She is a woman of strength beyond compare. She is tough. She is amazing. She is an inspiration. She is my best friend and I'm running for her.
Lupus is a chronic autoimmune disease that can damage any part of the body, i.e. joints, skin and/or organs. Lupus can range from mild outbreaks to life threatening. There are treatments to help with the symptoms but there is no cure. I'm running the NYC half marathon this March to help raise money forLupus research. Please make a donation to support Lupus research, to support my friend and all those affected by Lupus.
Love and Peace!
