St. Louis Language Immersion Schools is a network of independent, tuition-free charter schools located in St. Louis City. The mission of St. Louis Language Immersion Schools is to position all children for success in local & global economies through holistic, intellectually-inspiring language immersion programs. St. Louis Language Immersion Schools operates three language immersion elementary schools – The Spanish School, The French School and The Chinese School. All three programs are Candidate Schools of the International Baccalaureate’s Primary Years’ Programme. The Primary Years Programme is an internationally acclaimed, inquiry-based curricular model that positions students as the investigator and establishes learning through a child’s natural sense of curiosity. In the 2013-14 school year, St. Louis Language Immersion Schools serve approximately 875 students – 58% of which come from low to moderate income households (as determined by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education) and qualify for free or reduced lunch. The school charter details a commitment to serving an inclusive population that is reflective of the diversity in St. Louis. Our student body is 49% Black/African American, 27% White/European Descent, 2% Asian, 12% Latino/Hispanic, and 10% Multi-Ethnic. St. Louis Language Immersion Schools is the only language immersion, International Baccalaureate urban public school network in the United States.
