Small Steps in Speech is a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to helping children with speech and language disorders become better communicators one Small Step at a time.
Through public support we provide grants to children for therapies treatments, communicative devices and other services to improve their communication skills.
Many health insurance plans do not cover or limit the coverage for speech therapy and audiology services. The lack of these therapies and services can have a life long effect on children with speech and language disorders. Education, social interactions, relationships and self-confidence are all impacted by communication skills.
Our 100% volunteer staff is dedicated to assisting children with speech and language disorders. Grants are awarded to children that would go without these services or they would otherwise present a financial hardship for their family.
Small Steps in Speech is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization created in memory of SSG Marc J. Small, who lost his life while serving his country in Afghanistan. Marc always had a love of children and believed in the profession chosen by his fiancée and speech and language pathologist, Amanda Charney. Amanda founded Small Steps in Speech in honor of Marc’s memory and his support of children with speech and/or language disorders.
