St. Mary's Catholic School is a 108 year old institution located in Lawton, Oklahoma adjacent to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The student body comprises an ethnically and racially diverse population of 121 students in grades Pre-K through 8th grade. The school has always had a reputation for academic excellence in spite of having to provide that quality with fewer resources than public schools.
The Catholic Parish and school communities have come together in recent years to upgrade the aging facility to make it a brighter, more modern, more welcoming place. There are several areas of the school that still need upgrading. However, the one area that stands out and that has the most impact on learning is the need to upgrade the instructional delivery technology in the four middle school classrooms.
This fundraiser will allow smart boards to be installed in each middle school room. This technology benefits students and teachers. Student learning will be enhanced the use of high resolution graphics, web safari capabilities and many other activities to improve learning and increase their technology literacy. Teachers will be more able to use either planned lectures or spur-of-the-moment inquiries that can be shared with all students. These tools help create a quality learning environment.
