Greetings from St. Michael’s College! This summer we will be in Georgetown, Guyana for 2 weeks, and during that time, we will work at several sites: St. John Bosco Boys’ Orphanage for children aged 5-14 who either don’t have parents or have families who cannot afford to care for them; two public orphanages; the Palms Institution for the Elderly and Disabled, which is a very poorly-run government institution for people who have no income or family to care for them; and Mahaica Leprosy Residence for individuals suffering from the long-term debilitating effects of leprosy and the stigma that has led to their abandonment by family, friends, and society. Our aim will be to provide much-needed companionship, attention, and practical assistance to individuals facing abandonment or living in conditions of extreme neglect.
We will only be able to go on this trip if we are able to raise the necessary funds and any small amount you might be able to contribute would be greatly appreciated by all our team members and the individuals with whom we will work, many of whom have been living in desperate conditions for many, many years.
If you would rather donate goods such as diapers, flip flops, travel sized toiletries, sheets, towels, or clothing please send these donations to:
