As you may or may not know, I am training to run my first half-marathon on October 12, 2013. The Jazz Half Marathon is a 13.1 mile race running from Lafayette Square in downtown New Orleans to Audubon Park uptown and back which helps raise money for the Children's Hospital's Cancer Program. In addition to torturing my body regardless of the pain it keeps notifying me of, I am also joining in the fund raising and attempting to raise $500.00. Of course any amount over $500.00 is awesome too and will no doubt be appreciated by Children's Hospital. Please feel free to pass this information on in any way you see fit to spread the word!
Children's Hospital treats more Louisiana kids with cancer than all other facilities combined. Children’s Hospital's LaNasa-Greco Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders treats more than 1,100 children with cancer each year, and the hospital has a policy of never turning away a child who needs the care they offer, regardless of the family's ability to pay. The hospital provides treatment for children with leukemia, lymphoma, tumors, anemia, hemophilia, and other childhood cancers.
