Snuggle Sacks - Homeless Survival Kits
Organized by: Stacy Daul
We are coming into another fall and winter season, and with that there are so many people right here in our own communities that need food and shelter. The number of homeless continues to rise, and the shelters and resources to help them decrease due to such a high demand. That's where Snuggle Sacks can help. Every dollar given goes towards items needed for a Snuggle Sack. An bag costs on average about $7, and includes new socks, gloves, small blankets, chapstick, applesauce, toothbrush / toothpaste, hand and foot warmers, raisins, crackers (or any combination of protein type snacks), basic travel size toiletry items, including shampoo, conditioner and deodorant, a blanket and bottled water. Once completed, the Snuggle Sacks are handed out to the homeless population through means of Genesee County shelters and soup kitchens. She works with Carriage Town Ministries and Homeless Angels to distribute, as well as various other organizations. The history of Snuggle Sacks: Since reconnecting with her estranged Grandpa last summer, and learning he was homeless for 6 of the past 10 years, 9-year old Addisyn Goss has been on a mission to help fight this horrible reality. After coming across the idea of making survival kits for those less fortunate, she has been reaching out to family, friends and the community in hopes of getting items donated, and started Snuggle Sacks in 2015, as she says everyone deserves love and snuggles. She has been interviewed by countless TV and Radio stations, as well as various corporations and local nonprofits that help assist in her initiative. She is also currently in the process of obtaining 501c3 status. Any help you can lend, whether $5 or $20, helps Snuggle Sacks provide basic essentials to those who need it most. Your support is so appreciated.
