So Kenny Needs an Endoscopy
Organized by: Natasha Gonzales-Costa
THANK YOU EVERYONE!
June 03, 2016
My husband has been suffering severe issues with his gastrointestinal tract for several years. He finally has insurance, but only through the end of June. We've been struggling to get him into a gastrointestinal specialist, which we finally did, and we had to pay a lot more than we normally would have because there are no covered GI specialists in the area for our insurance. The GI recommended an ultrasound, which is covered with the copay we paid for the GI, but also an endoscopy.
Because there's a chance he might have cancer.
Even if he doesn't have cancer, the GI is kind of sure that he can do something to fix part of the problem during the endoscopy. This is absolutely necessary -- eating is so painful for Kenny right now that he only does it when absolutely necessary, and more than half the time he throws out most of his food.
The endoscopy is $200 alone. We had to pay out of our rent money to see the GI specialist as it is, but this is absolutely out of our price range. I also had to borrow against other bills to pay for other medical expenses.
What we need is --
$200 -- Endoscopy.
$40 -- Medications.
$10 -- Gas.
$200 -- Phone bill, so we can keep in contact with his doctor.
I just kind of rounded up. I would be pleased to just be able to pay for the endoscopy; I can figure everything else out somehow if I can get that paid for.
If I were currently able to work (I am not, and Nevada doesn't have a temporary disability program so I'm SOL), this would not be an issue. Kenny is the only one supporting us right now, and he's working on-call, in immense pain.
I hate asking, and if you can't help I fully understand -- I'm not in the position to help anyone right now either. I get it. But even a few bucks would be awesome, if you can spare it. Thank you for checking this out, and I hope you're doing better than we are. :)
