BENEFITING: The Sierra Club Foundation
EVENT DATE: Aug 11, 2017
SOAR Northwest, a licensed Idaho Outfitter, and Sierra Club's Military Outdoors are working together to get 12 of our Military Veterans on a 6 day / 5 night Wilderness River Trip down the Main Salmon 'River of no Return' in Idaho. This program provides extended time in the Wilderness to disconnect from our world and to reconnect with each other and nature. While these week long are more costly than 1-2 days , their exponential impact on the soul is astounding. "Time spent in nature not only promotes mental health, emotional resiliency, and leadership development prior to deployment, it provides invaluable know-how to help returning vets enjoy and engage with nature upon returning from deployments. Many veterans experience difficulty adjusting to civilian life after leaving the service. Time spent outdoors eases the transition and improves both mental health and social skills." (Stacy Bare) Please consider supporting the Military Outdoors program and helping to provide an amazing Wilderness River opportunity down the iconic Salmon River of Idaho. This may be a once in a lifetime opportunity for a Veteran, but it could forever change their life. All funds raised go directly to this program!
Trip Dates: August 11-19, 2017
A $1,000.00 donation covers the full cost for a Veteran to participate in the trip. No contribution is too small. You can also support the program with donations of $10.00-$999.00
