BENEFITING: SOCCER WITHOUT BORDERS
EVENT DATE: Jan 08, 2017
I am volunteering at the Soccer Without Borders Youth Festival in Kampala, Uganda in January 2017. SWB uses soccer as a vehicle for positive change by helping kids with education, civic and cultural engagement, and team building,
This will be SWB’s sixth annual Youth Festival and my third volunteering. The Festival has 250-300 kids participating each day, many of whom are refugees and asylees from neighboring countries and who need help in many critical life areas. I will be coordinating both soccer-related and off-the-field activities and helping keep the festival running as smoothly as possible.
While on my trip to Uganda, I am also planning to visit two children who I sponsor through a different non-profit. They live in the eastern part of Uganda and I'll make the eight-hour trip each way to spend a day with them.
Please consider donating on my behalf to help cover the costs of running this year's SWB Youth Festival and allowing me to participate.
Also, I hope to take approximately 100 lbs. of new or gently used soccer gear with me to help the SWB program. If you or anyone you know have soccer gear to donate please let me know and we'll arrange a way for me to get it.
