BENEFITING: SOCCER WITHOUT BORDERS
After graduating from the University of St. Thomas I am incredibly excited to announce the next step in life, working with an organization called Soccer Without Borders. After playing soccer for many years, I am blessed to have found a spot with a wonderful organization; Soccer Without Borders’ "mission is to use soccer as a vehicle for positive change, providing under-served youth a toolkit to overcome obstacles to growth, inclusion and personal success." I will be spending one year in the city of Kampala, Uganda, servicing the community in 5 activities: Coaching and playing soccer, providing academic and language development and support, engaging the local community and bringing the global community together, building a safe, positive, and winning team, and exchanging cultural values and norms!
I will be working with child refugees from Uganda and surrounding African nations (Sudan, Somalia, Democratic Republic of the Congo, etc.) to raise up the individual and creat an atmosphere in which those children can go out into their communities and make a positive impact. One of the most important aspects of working with Soccer Without Borders is bringing together a global community to celebrate the beautiful game. That is where I am in need of your assistance! As with many of these global volunteer opportunities, there is a fundraising component involved. Your tax-deductible (nice!) donations will help me with my living and housing expenses, so that I may service the community as best as possible! This is your opportunity to make my service trip, our service trip. Thank you so much for supporting me, and helping me make this dream a reality!
