EDUCATION FOR PEACE IN IRAQ CENTER wrote -
ISIS and related violence have forced 3 million Iraqis to flee their homes and the lives they once knew. Almost half of those displaced are children. Now these children and families face an additional threat: Iraq's long, hot summer.
Soccer Salam is a U.S. veteran-led project that is working on-the-ground in Iraq to alleviate the suffering of displaced families and empower children through the timely delivery of humanitarian assistance and the joy of soccer.
Our goal this summer: reach 2,000 displaced and vulnerable families in need. To do that, we need to raise $20,000 to locally purchase and distribute essentials including food, water tanks, medicine, and soccer balls.
Every day, we encounter hungry, traumatized children like 8-year-old Sabreen. For months, Sabreen and her family have been living outside under a tent without access to clean water, adequate food, or the chance to simply play as every child deserves. Sabreen told us: “We want to live like you in our houses, and with our family, and play without fear of bombs and bullets.”
OUR DREAM is for children like Sabreen to have better access to life essentials like food, clean water, and shelter, while also having the chance to play and heal from the traumas of war. But to realize that dream, WE NEED YOU ON OUR TEAM.
Be a donor and we’ll show you the direct impact. We will provide you with a detailed report on the distributions you made possible, along with photos and video of the children and families you helped. Here’s how you can help:
