Building Classrooms and Churches in Panama
Organized by: Meghann Doane
EVENT DATE Jun 20, 2016
Hello, my name is Meghann, I am a Graduate Student pursuing my Masters in Social Work; I earned my BASW in June of 2015. Fortunately, this year the school of Social Work at my University has been given the opportunity to volunteer once again with Maranatha Volunteers International in Panama; our exact project is building classrooms within a church; foundation, flooring, painting, and steel framework. During the evenings we will be presenting workshops on various topics to the parents and locals. While there we will go to the Universidad de Panama and visit their school of Social Work. I am currently trying to fundraise for the cost of my trip, supplies, the items we will be donating to the locals, and my stay. As a student in graduate school full-time, interning, working, and trying to budget tuition, books and all college/internship expenses, any help will surely be appreciated. I have never had the opportunity to travel out of the country and make an impact in such a way. Being able to pursue this opportunity is a priority of mine and any dollar amount is sincerely appreciated. Thank you for your consideration and assistance in allowing me to practice social work on an international scale!
