What This Is
The School of Information's Alternative Spring Break is in keeping with the spirit of public service that the program instills in its students. We SI students help organizations in various cities solve their information problems - for free.
What I'm Doing
I'll be going to Chicago during the first week in March and working with the American Planning Association (APA). They have large quantities of data about their members that they would like to see mapped and visualized in interesting ways, both for their own internal planning and to help create a greater sense of community for those who interact with the APA only through their website.

This is a truly unique opportunity for me to bridge those two worlds in a concrete, portfolio-improving project, not to mention an invaluable networking opportunity. This will get me a job.
I'm so excited about this but, as a student, I don't have a lot of money. So that's...
