Dear Friends & Family,
For my next marathon, I have decided to run in the 2016 TCS New York City Marathon for charity through Social Promise, a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that seeks to provide health and educational resources to communities in northern Uganda. Through local partners, St. Jude’s Children’s Home and Lacor Hospital, located in Gulu, Social Promise ensures that no redundant infrastructure is created by financing the implementation of pre-existing nonprofit goals already supporting the foundation of Ugandan communities.
St. Jude Children’s Home began as a home for children orphaned by poverty, AIDS and the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA). It has evolved in the relative peace of the last decade to include a nursery and primary school and the groundbreaking Consolation Home – a special unit in which families of children with special needs find emotional care, shelter and medical support. Lacor Hospital is an internationally recognized model of humanitarianism and compassionate medical care. Annually, Lacor provides health services to over 300,000 patients in its main building and satellite clinics.
Your generous donation helps meet the medical needs of many economically disadvantaged people in Uganda by lowering the cost of medical treatment by more than 80 percent. $300.00 covers a registered nurse’s salary at Lacor Hospital for one month. $100.00 provides a patient with an essential, life-saving operation at Lacor Hospital. $40.00 allows a child with disabilities to receive complete care and housing at Consolation Home for one month.
Every dollar helps. The more you give, the faster I run.
